In this part of the book, I present several tools that I have used and refined throughout my career to help companies connect business and technology and get more results from their investments in digital technologies.
You will notice that the tools I am going to discuss here are not software tools like spreadsheets, presentations, documents, Slack, JIRA, Confluence, etc. While these software tools are often useful, they are just a means of documenting, communicating, and metricizing the tools we are about to explore.
The tools we will cover include: product vision, strategic objectives, team structure, OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), and digital maturity. I will also introduce some hacks, which are tips on how to help disseminate digital culture in a company. Finally, I will talk about what I believe are the two main tools that incumbent companies have and should use to leverage their digital journey.
Before we delve into these tools, I want to make a very important note: tools are tools. Each tool has its use, and they exist to help us achieve specific results. We do not serve the tools; the tools serve us. New tools will undoubtedly be created, and by understanding the principles we have just discussed, you will be able to determine which tools may be most useful for you and your company.
In the next post, the first tool: product vision!
Here’s a spoiler, my brand-new masterclass on Product Vision. For those who don’t speak Portuguese, you can use YouTube’s automatically generate translated subtitles:

I’ve been helping companies and their leaders (CPOs, heads of product, CTOs, CEOs, tech founders, and heads of digital transformation) bridge the gap between business and technology through workshops, coaching, and advisory services on product management and digital transformation.
